The Marble Falls Youth Football and Cheer fifth-graders are playing Fredericksburg for the Hill Country Youth Football League championship at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, Mustang Stadium. The Mustangs reached the championship game by shutting out Smithson Valley Blue 16-0 Nov. 9 and crushing Liberty Hill Legacy Ranch Navy 34-6 Nov. 2. Marble Falls coach T.J. Hill Country Elite won the River City Bowl Dec. 2-3 in San Marcos by going 3-1 to begin the winter season. The Elite, which features seventh- and eighth-graders living in Burnet, Llano, Marble Falls and Fredericksburg, beat the San Marcos Sharks in the championship 28-0 in a contest that was called in the fourth quarter after losing to them 8-2 to begin the event. The Marble Falls Youth Football and Cheer teams picked up wins against Burnet Oct. 7.
