Errors lead to very different outcomes for the Lady Dawgs

Bad weather April 12 forced the Burnet High School softball team to play in back-to-back contests April 13-14 where the Lady Dawgs got different results. Burnet (19-8, 5-4 District 19-4A) defeated Taylor (6-3) 6-4 one night after losing to Salado (3-5) 9-4. “It was huge,” head coach Hailey Wooten said of the win. “They could see our playoff hopes dwindling, and they knew that’s not how it’s supposed to be, not with all the potential we have. Bulldog Relays is a big draw for the area’s top athletes

Track and field enthusiasts will gather at Bunet’s Bulldog Field to cheer on the area’s best athletes in that sport on Thursday, March 24. The meet begins at noon at Bulldog Field, 1400 Bulldog Stadium Drive. The meet will draw teams from Marble Falls and Copperas Cove and from Burnet’s 19-4A district: Lake Belton, Lampasas, Salado and Taylor. The Burnet High School baseball team lost to Taylor 10-2 on March 22. Bulldogs head coach Russell Houston commended the Ducks’ pitching and their ability to capitalize on opportunities. “They pitched really well,” he said. “And we made mistakes that really hurt us.
