Faith Academy of Marble Falls remains motivated and committed to staying among the state’s best

Being in shape is vital to a team’s success, especially in six-man football. That’s why Faith Academy of Marble Falls head coach Stephen Shipley called for running plays with long yards towards the end of practice. Then just when the Flames thought they were done for the day, Shipley lined them up again to run 40-yard sprints. After all, if the Flames want to add another memorable season to their history, it starts with being in better shape than their opponents. That will especially be important considering Faith returns three…

Faith Academy athletics adds more milestones to banners

Saying the Faith Academy of Marble Falls athletics department experienced a banner year in 2021-22 doesn’t begin to describe the success. The Flames were undefeated in district play en route to titles in football, basketball, baseball and track and field. They repeated as the Class 2A state track and field champions. The department earned an individual state title in tennis thanks to the doubles team of Ryan Delmonico and Jaden Turrentine. The Lady Flames also enjoyed great seasons in district play. They were tied for second in volleyball and basketball,…

Despite ending, Faith Academy softball accomplishes plenty

The Faith Academy of Marble Falls softball team’s season ended in a 26-2 loss to district foe Pflugerville Concordia May 10. The Lady Flames made a change in the lineup when sophomore pitcher Jaedyn Hart was unavailable to play. Hart has thrown the majority of the innings during the season. As a result, Concordia made the plate adjustments and ended the contest in three innings. Still, head coach Delaney Ferguson pointed out her players grew in many ways during the season. During the first practice, she noted she had three…

‘Epic’ mile relay win means the Flames repeated as the state champs

Just as Faith Academy of Marble Falls head track and field coach Steve McCannon predicted, the Class 2A boys state championship came down to the 4×400-meter relay, the meet’s last race May 7. But what McCannon couldn’t have predicted was having to make a change because of one of his relay runners was unable to go. “Luke Ehrig went down in the 100,” he said. So the coach went to sophomore Cross Sanchez and told him the situation. “We knew we had to beat Dallas First Baptist Academy,” McCannon said.…

Lady Flames win playoff game thanks to great start to the contest

Few people may have given the Faith Academy of Marble Falls softball team a chance against Plano Coram Deo in a Class 2A playoff game May 6. But the Lady Flames didn’t pay any attention. Instead, they arrived with the intention of getting a win and set the tone immediately in a 13-11 victory for what most believe can’t be more than the program’s second playoff win ever. Next up is Pflugerville Concordia, a district foe that beat Faith twice in the regular season. The game is set for a…

Faith freshmen bring home state championship in girls doubles

The tradition of the Faith Academy of Marble Falls tennis team earning a state championship continued thanks to a pair of left-handed freshmen. Ryan Delmonico and Jaden Turrentine went 4-0 in girls doubles at the Class 2A state meet of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools April 6-7 to win it all. Because the duo are freshmen, they didn’t receive a seed, which is given based on past history at the tournament. Still, it didn’t matter to them, who also won the district championship by going 4-0. “I…
