Llano rises to challenge in facing Marble Falls football

The Llano High School football team defeated Marble Falls 20-13 Sept. 13 in the Yellow Jackets’ home opener. Turnovers led to points during each half with Llano (2-1) using one to score a touchdown and the final interception to line up in victory formation. “The kids did a phenomenal job,” Mustangs head coach Keri Timmerman said. “We made some critical errors. A different outcome in Marble Falls, Llano football game could have rewritten history

Marble Falls and Llano have been friendly rivals long before the two programs agreed to play each other in a home-and-home series in 2024 and 2025. They played in the same district for decades before Marble Falls moved up in classification in the 2000s. Back then, only the district champions and runners-up advanced to the playoffs. Hill Country Elite wins the River City Bowl

Hill Country Elite won the River City Bowl Dec. 2-3 in San Marcos by going 3-1 to begin the winter season. The Elite, which features seventh- and eighth-graders living in Burnet, Llano, Marble Falls and Fredericksburg, beat the San Marcos Sharks in the championship 28-0 in a contest that was called in the fourth quarter after losing to them 8-2 to begin the event.
