Edwards wanted Marble Falls coaching hires to help students succeed in all phases

Rick Edwards did more than repeat the Marble Falls Independent School District’s motto of having an unyielding commitment to loving every child — he lived it. That was apparent by the way the MFISD board trustee voted when it came to policies, funding unexpected expenses such as trips for extracurricular activities, and especially hires. Edwards died May 7 from a brain hemorrhage on the same day he was re-elected to the board. While it’s a given that every MFISD employee embraces the district motto and shows it, the truth is…

The Marble Falls High School baseball team defeated Llano 10-3 April 23 in a non-district contest. “It was another defensive game,” Mustangs head coach Tyler Porter said. “It’s hard to play bad baseball when you play good defense. Our pitchers threw strikes and our defense backed them up.” Senior pitcher Jake Becker picked up the win. In five innings, he gave up three earned runs off five hits, walked four, hit one with a pitch, and struck out four. Kyle Curtis was the reliever and gave up three hits, one…

Four Marble Falls athletes advance to regional track meet

The day before the District 25 and 26-5A area track and field meet, pole vaulting coach Justin Doiron and throwing coach Richard Scales of Marble Falls High School held a 30-minute practice with their athletes and kept emphasizing the fundamentals of their events: footwork, technique, motion and, most importantly, having fun. The two knew senior thrower Logan Barnes and pole vaulters Anne McCary, a junior, and Meredith Cormier and Django Segovia, both seniors, had the best chances to advance to the Class 5A Region IV meet.
