The Johnson City High School baseball team defeated Burton 2-1 in the best-of-three Class 2A Region IV semifinal series May 19-20. The Eagles (22-7, 10-0 District 28-2A champions) will face Kenedy (20-5, District 31-2A champion) in the Class 2A Region IV championship with date, site and time still to be announced. The Johnson City High School baseball team beat Iola 2-0 May 13 and 10-0 May 12 in the area round of the playoffs to advance to the Class 2A regional quarterfinals. The Johnson City baseball team beat Granger 9-1 May 4 in game one of the best-of-three bi-district series. Game two is set for 5 p.m. Friday, May 5, at Lago Vista. The Johnson City High School baseball team beat Harper 5-0 March 24 to remain unbeaten in District 28-2A play. Harper (3-1) was picked to finish third in the district race behind the Eagles (9-,6 4-0) and Mason (11-4, 5-0).
