The Highland Lakes has several talented softball players who are on the Texas Girls Coaches Association all-state teams or are chosen to compete in the organization’s all-star game. Burnet graduate Savannah Gomez was named to the Class 4A all-state team. Gomez along with fellow graduates Katie Barnett, Yareli Vega and Rylea Whitus were named academic all-state, Llano juniors Gwyn Burnett and Skylar Brown were named to the Class 3A all-state team, while senior pitcher Madison Kloepper will play in the TCGA all-star game July 12 in Arlington. Llano’s Golemon is inducted into CCCAT’s Hall of Fame

Steve Golemon’s contributions to Texas high school sports are numerous, and organizations are making sure they aren’t quickly forgotten. The Llano High School cross country head coach and middle-distance track coach, who died Oct. 19, 2021, was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Cross Country Coaches Association of Texas June 11. Marble Falls volleyball hosts June league on Wednesdays

The Marble Falls High School volleyball program is continuing to host weekly matches at Marble Falls Middle School with the only changes are on the day of the week and the addition of other teams. Beginning Wednesday, June 8, players representing Blanco, Burnet, Lampasas, Llano and Marble Falls high schools will meet at 5 p.m. to play two matches per night and will call one contest. Parker is new girls athletics coordinator at Llano High School

Llano High School has a new girls athletics coordinator and head cross country and girls basketball coach, announced Llano Independent School District athletics director Matt Green. It’s Jay Parker. Parker served as the Shallowater High School head boys cross country and girls assistant basketball coach for the last four years including during the 2019-20 season when the Lady Fillies won the basketball Class 3A state championship. Llano’s Burnett wins silver at the Class 3A state meet

Llano sophomore Gwyn Burnett is leaving the Class 3A state meet of the University Interscholastic League with a medal. The Lady Jacket clocked 44.54 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles for the silver medal. Last year at the state meet, she finished fourth in 44.50 seconds. “I’m super excited,” she said. “When I crossed the finish line, I wanted to start to cry.
