The Hill Country Elite was the runner-up at the Battle on the Prairies tournament in Moosejaw, Saskatchewan, Canada Jan. 11-14. The Elite defeated 14U Manitoba Selects 19-6 in its opener and 13U Saskatchewan Selects 20-0 and lost to the Alberta Golden Bears A 24-8 in the championship. The Burnet High School boys soccer team went 1-2 at the Manor tournament last weekend. The Bulldogs beat Columbus 2-0 thanks to goals from Miguel Valdez and Ricardo Flores. To prepare for the cross country season, the Marble Falls High School program began having organized practices last week. New head coach Brenda Gonzalez was pleased with several traits.
