The Burnet High School boys soccer team is third in the District 25-4A standings after winning back-to-back matches. The Bulldogs (7-6-1, 6-3-1) defeated Austin Eastside Memorial 3-2 Feb. 17 and Austin Travis 7-0 Feb. 14. The Burnet High School girls basketball team will face China Spring at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at Copperas Cove High School for a bi-district championship. The Burnet High School boys soccer team crushed Jarrell 5-1 Jan. 27 to take possession of second place in District 25-4A. “This was a decisive game in deciding district,” head coach Benjamin Boorman said. Burnet struck first thanks to senior captains Hector Arredondo Ramirez, who threaded a ball to Miguel Valdez. The Burnet High School boys soccer team lost to Austin Eastside Early College 4-1 Jan. 27 in District 25-4A play. The Burnet High School boys soccer team defeated Florence 12-2 Jan. 23 after tying Austin Eastside Memorial 2-2 Jan. 17. In the regular season finale against Florence, Burnet prevailed 2-1. “Last year the Buffalos were making strides during the season,” head coach Benjamin Boorman said. The Burnet High School boys soccer team beat Austin Travis 1-0 in the District 25-4A opener Jan. 14. The lone goal was scored by Genesis Ceron on a deflection on the Bulldogs’ first free kick of the night. The Burnet High School girls basketball team defeated Jarrell 46-43 Jan. 14. The victory puts the Lady Dawgs (12-14, 3-1) in a three-way tie for first in District 24-4A with Salado (16-11, 3-1) and the Lady Cougars (22-6, 3-1). The Burnet High School boys soccer team went 1-2 at the Manor tournament last weekend. The Bulldogs beat Columbus 2-0 thanks to goals from Miguel Valdez and Ricardo Flores.
