Despite ending, Flames turn in a season filled with great memories

The Faith Academy of Marble Falls baseball team’s season ended in a 16-5 loss to Halletsville Sacred Heart in the Class 2A playoffs May 5. The loss, however, doesn’t take away from an impressive season where the Flames (8-3, 6-0) went undefeated in district play en route to winning the title. “They never gave up,” head coach Zakk Revelle said. “They were always encouraging each other. The summary of our season starts with the seniors and what they wanted to do, which was to win a district championship. And then…

Faith freshmen bring home state championship in girls doubles

The tradition of the Faith Academy of Marble Falls tennis team earning a state championship continued thanks to a pair of left-handed freshmen. Ryan Delmonico and Jaden Turrentine went 4-0 in girls doubles at the Class 2A state meet of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools April 6-7 to win it all. Because the duo are freshmen, they didn’t receive a seed, which is given based on past history at the tournament. Still, it didn’t matter to them, who also won the district championship by going 4-0. “I…

Flames battle toughest road test to remain unbeaten in district

The Faith Academy of Marble Falls baseball team survived its best challenge to its undefeated district record. The Flames (7-2, 5-0) outlasted Bryan St. Joseph 13-11 April 22 thanks to solid hitting and taking advantage of runners in scoring position. “Winning is hard,” head coach Zakk Revelle said. “This is the first baseball district championship for Faith Academy ever. They took it head-on. It was the most complete team effort we’ve had all season.” Every Flame had at least one hit, and Revelle noted every single one was needed to…

Griffin teaches life lessons he’s learned through his track club

Most Texans may know Cedric Griffin as a cornerback for the 2005 national champion Texas Longhorns that defeated the University of Southern California in the Rose Bowl. Griffin was part of the 2001 recruiting class ranked No. 1 in the country. What people may not know is that Griffin, who is an assistant track coach for Faith Academy of Marble Falls this spring, credits much of his play-making ability on the football field to the time he spent on the track long before he signed his National Letter of Intent…

Another undefeated district championship yields awards

Faith Academy of Marble Falls boys basketball players Brock Davis and Case Coleman were named to the small private school all-state team by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. The honors are the latest for the duo who led the Flames to another undefeated district season and the second round of the playoffs. “(Their coaches) nominate them, and they get voted on by a separate committee,” head coach Zakk Revelle said. “I nominated those two. I knew they’d all get TAPPS all-state. All the other accolades play a part.” Junior…

The Faith Academy of Marble Falls baseball team battled some early adversity against Bryan Allen Academy for a 15-0 win April 14. Going into the District 3-2A track and field meet of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools April 11, Faith Academy of Marble Falls was the favorite to continue a tradition head coach Steve McCannon doesn’t take for granted — winning the championships.
