Smoking For Jesus preparing for 6-on-6 play in June

The Smoking For Jesus Ministry School football team’s 6-on-6 squad is preparing for the first of three opportunities to face other competition. First up is Ball County Angels, a team from Temple, traveling to play the Eagles at their home venue on the Smoking For Jesus campus, RR 2342 in Burnet. The two square off at at 5 p.m. Friday, June 10. On Friday and Saturday, June 17-18, the Eagles will be one of 10 teams participating in a two-day tournament at San Marcos Academy. Russell Roberts joins Smoking for Jesus football staff

Long-time athletics director and coach Russell Roberts is donning the red and black of the Smoking For Jesus Ministry School Eagles. Roberts, who is most familiar to Highland Lakes sports fans as the football and boys track and field coach at Faith Academy, decided to become part of Eagles head coach Charles Frazier Sr.’s staff in early April. Smoking for Jesus sports department shifts leagues

The Smoking for Jesus Minstry School’s athletics department has changed high school leagues. The private school moved to the Texas Association of Independent Athletic Organizations, which happened after the basketball season ended. The department was previously a member of the Texas Christian Athletic League where the Eagles had tremendous success. The football team reached the league’s six-man state championship game in 2019, 2020 and 2021 and won back-to-back titles in 2020 and 2021. The Eagles have a college student-athlete now that Charles Frazier, Jr. signed his National Letter of Intent to Midway University in Midway, Ky. Two athletes did plenty for the Smoking for Jesus Ministry Christian School’s boys track-and-field team during the the state meet of the Texas Association of Independent Athletic Organizations May 7. The Burnet High School baseball team illustrated almost every emotion known in sports in a 24-hour period. A pitching change and timely hitting with runners in scoring position helped Georgetown High defeat the Marble Falls High School baseball team 5-4 April 12. “The start was great,” Marble Falls head coach Tyler Porter said of his team. “Our Achilles’ heel is we always seem to give some back. The Burnet High School baseball team found itself in familiar territory March 18 against Salado.
