Faith Academy athletics adds more milestones to banners

Saying the Faith Academy of Marble Falls athletics department experienced a banner year in 2021-22 doesn’t begin to describe the success. The Flames were undefeated in district play en route to titles in football, basketball, baseball and track and field. They repeated as the Class 2A state track and field champions. The department earned an individual state title in tennis thanks to the doubles team of Ryan Delmonico and Jaden Turrentine. The Lady Flames also enjoyed great seasons in district play. Edwards wanted Marble Falls coaching hires to help students succeed in all phases

Rick Edwards did more than repeat the Marble Falls Independent School District’s motto of having an unyielding commitment to loving every child — he lived it. That was apparent by the way the MFISD board trustee voted when it came to policies, funding unexpected expenses such as trips for extracurricular activities, and especially hires. Gillaspie’s signing illustrates her mental determination

Burnet High School senior volleyball player Kayla Gillaspie fulfilled a lifelong goal May 6 when she signed a National Letter of Intent to play for Ranger College in Odessa. The Lady Dawg, who was a member of the District 19-4A co-championship and Class 4A Region III semifinalist team, celebrated the signing with family and friends. Few athletes have had more fo overcome to get to this moment than Gillaspie. In 2020, she tore an anterior cruciate ligament one match before the start of district play. May volleyball league draws athletes back to the hardwood

Wanting to give local volleyball athletes opportunities to play and improve but not wanting to travel far, Marble Falls High School head coach Kait Goertz decided to host weekly matches here. So she decided to reach out to the head coaches at surrounding schools, who accepted the invitation. Each Monday starting at 5 p.m. at Marble Falls Middle School, 1511 Pony Circle Drive, fans can watch their favorite players and teams in one location. Fundraiser does more than raise money for volleyball program

Needing a fundraiser and knowing the positive impact volleyball has on a community, Marble Falls High School volleyball head coach Kait Goertz organized a tournament that is pitting squads consisting of boys against each other. The tournament is at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at Max Copeland Gym on the Marble Falls High School campus, 2101 Mustang Drive. Admission is $2. The format is a double elimination tournament with the two teams meeting in the championship playing a three-set match. Goertz started the tournament in 2021 and received positive feedback.…
