The Marble Falls High School baseball team posted a 3-1 record during its first weekend of play. The Mustangs beat Austin Regents 17-3, Llano 9-4 and Austin McCallum 7-4 and lost to Big Spring 3-1. “We’re right about where I thought we’d be,” head coach Tyler Porter said, adding tournaments present various challenges for teams. Burnet baseball beat Fredericksburg in season opener

The Burnet High School baseball team defeated Fredericksburg 6-3 Feb. 19 in the season opener. The Bulldogs (1-0) scored a run in the first inning only to see the Billies plate two in their half of the inning. But in the fourth, Burnet scored two runs, added another in the fifth, and two more in the sixth. Meanwhile, Fredericksburg scored a run in the fifth. The Marble Falls High School baseball team begins the 2024 season at the Fredericksburg Eberle-Boeck Memorial Baseball Tournament Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 22-24. They begin against Llano at 9 a.m., then face Austin McCallum at 2 p.m. Thursday, resume against Austin Regents Friday and finish against Big Spring Saturday. Both games start at 9 a.m. The Mustangs are returning four starters and three more lettermen from a year ago when they captured the District 24-4A title. Burnet CISD board president outlines timeline for superintendent, athletic director, football hires

The Burnet Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees is gearing up for what may be a busier spring than it has ever had before. That’s because three individuals will be occupying offices they did not house during the fall semester: superintendent, director of athletics and school safety, and football head coach.
