Faith Academy athletics remains in TAPPS Class 3A

The Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools recently announced the new extracurricular activity districts for its members, which includes Faith Academy of Marble Falls.
The Flames will remain in Class 3A based on enrollment numbers for the total number of students in grades 9-12 and the number of boys. TAPPS looks at both.
“Anybody, anywhere, anytime,” athletic director Zakk Revelle said of the new districts. “We’re excited again to be in these districts. We’re excited we stayed in 3A – that’s where we should be. There are some fresh faces and some new teams.”
Faith Academy’s basketball and volleyball programs are in District 4-3A that includes Austin San Juan Diego, San Antonio Keystone, San Antonio Lutheran, San Marcos Academy, Temple Central Texas Christian, and Waco Live Oak. Gone are Bryan Brazos Christian, Round Rock Christian, Temple Holy Trinity and Waco Reicher.
The Flames baseball team is in Division 4, District 3 with Central Texas Christian, Live Oak, Lutheran, San Juan Diego and San Marcos Academy.
The football team is in Division 2, District 4 that includes Bulverde Bracken Christian, Holy Trinity, Lutheran and San Marcos Academy.
“We’re excited to have a lot of old friends back with us,” Revelle said. “We had San Juan in everything. We have great relationships with those coaches and those teams.”
Bracken is a long-time Faith Academy foe.
“We play Bracken in the junior high,” Revelle said. “We’ve kept in touch. I know the athletic director (Terri Sanders) well. San Marcos Academy was the only team in our district the year we went to state (2021) that played us four quarters.”
Though Lutheran and Keystone are new to the district, some programs had scheduled contests against those schools in pre-district play.
“Live Oak is going to be really good,” the athletic director said. “(Houston) West Bury Christian stayed 3A. They’re a basketball powerhouse. Of the 3A preseason top 10, 30 percent are going to be in 4A next year.”
TAPPS will announce the new districts for cross country, golf, tennis and track and field at a later date.
“They want to see who’s all participating,” Revelle said.
