The Burnet High School volleyball team took care of another rival Sept. 27 when the Lady Dawgs swept Lampasas 25-16, 25-15, 26-24 to move to 2-0 in District 24-4A.
And thanks to wins by the freshman and junior varsity teams, the Burnet program took all three matches.
“What a great environment it was,” head coach Crystal Shipley said. “Rivalries are fun.”
The varsity “came out on fire” and dominated the first two sets. But Lampasas didn’t give up. The Lady Badgers took an eight-point lead, but Burnet wouldn’t be denied. The Lady Dawgs came storming back to claim the match and remain unbeaten in district play.
Both subvarsities won in straight sets.
Next up is another rival — Marble Falls — Friday, Sept. 30, at Max Copeland Gym, 2101 Mustang Drive.
The subvarsities play at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity follows at 6:30 p.m.
“Football is off this Friday, so please come support our girls as they continue to fight for a district championship,” Shipley said.
