The Faith Academy of Marble Falls football team welcomes Lucas Christian Academy in the opening round Division II six-man playoffs of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools.

Kickoff is at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at Britton Field on the Faith Academy campus.

“It’s exciting,” Faith head coach Jay Silvers said. “We really worked to get into the playoffs.”

The Warriors (5-3, 2-2) are the Division II, District 3 co-runners-up, while the Flames (5-5, 3-0) are the Division II, District 4 champions.

Lucas Academy makes no secret of what it wants to do offensively.

Lucas Academy junior Sam Wheeler leads the passing attack. He has completed 103 of 186 passes for 1,623 yards, 31 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. Senior Rylan Goss has 34 receptions for 675 yards and 11 touchdowns, while senior Parker Hall has 29 catches for 326 yards and 3 scores and 38 rushes for 238 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Five different Lucas Academy players have attempted a pass this season. Eight different players have carried the ball, and eight different receivers have made a catch.

Faith will counter with senior Karter Van Gundy and sophomores Wade Dillard, Cooper Hansard and Max Worner.

Defensively, Lucas Academy junior Johnathan Aldape leads the unit with 97 tackles, 3 sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery followed by senior Noah Martin with 82 tackles and 3 interceptions, and Hall with 79 tackles, 2 sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery.

Look for Faith to continue to rely on junior Andrew Houy and freshman Landon Silvers for offensive production. The Flames will mix short throws and tosses they turn into big gains because of their speed, downfield blocking and ability to weave to the end zone.

Faith snapped a three-game losing streak at the end of its pre-district schedule and went on a three-game winning streak to win the district crown. The Flames beat San Marcos Academy 40-33 at home Oct. 25 and defeated Bulverde Bracken 68-62 Oct. 31 and San Antonio Lutheran 58-7 Nov. 8 in road games.

The winner of the Faith-Lucas Academy contest faces the winner of the Bulverde Bracken and Bryan Allen Academy matchup.
