Faith Academy volleyball looking for consistency

The Faith Academy of Marble Falls volleyball team is searching for its first win in District 4-3A of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools.

The Lady Flames (9-12-2, 0-2) lost to Temple Central Texas Christian and Austin San Juan Diego.

As a result, head coach Erin Sawyer switch up players. Ella Claiborne went to middle blocker and Carrington Silvers is at right side hitter.

“We did this little change,” she said. “I like the changes. I’m happy with the change.”

The Lady Flames have been limited in player availability because of injuries and illness. Claiborne and Silvers have demonstrated the ability to end rallies when their numbers are called.

Meanwhile, the Faith junior varsity won the silver bracket of the Hill Country Christian Schools tournament during the weekend.

Standouts included setter Reese Ramsey, Avalynn Eppler, Layla Terell and Cuyleigh Zimmerman.

“Reese did really well with her setting and running the team,” Sawyer said. “(Ramsey, Eppler and Zimmerman) had solid serves and played well on the back row. They did a really good job. My libero was sick. Layla stepped in and did a wonderful job.”

Faith is at San Antonio Lutheran Tuesday, Sept. 17, with the junior varsity playing at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity to follow and welcomes Waco Live Oak Thursday, Sept. 19, with the junior varsity playing at 5 p.m. and the varsity to follow.

“I’m excited for the upcoming matches,” Sawyer said. “I think they can totally turn things around. We know we can win. We’ve beaten Lutheran in the past.”
