Marble Falls football shows weekly improvements during 7 on 7

The Marble Falls High School 7-on-7 football team completed play at the Burnet May League May 20.
Head coach Keri Timmerman pointed out the Mustangs showed weekly improvement.
“We were excite to do it,” he said. “Anytime you can get kids throwing and catching in any setting is good.”
He noted the three-week league helped the Mustangs in many ways.
The players used the language associated with the passing attack complete with hand signals at the line of scrimmage to communicate information. Next, the Mustangs ran a little bit of tempo complete with quarterback rollouts. Receivers ran routes common to the passing attack. And finally, the players began building rapport with one another where they got to know each other’s tendencies and could see firsthand their speed.
Timmerman said it was very helpful to him as he is in his first year at the helm of the program. He could see what they did well and where they can get better in order to help the team meet its goals for the 2024 season.
He noted they’re still trying to get the base offense installed.
While the scoreboard may not have reflected all the Mustangs accomplished, the coach pointed out the progress was invaluable.
“I thought it was good for us to get out and have fun,” he said. “I thought our kids did a great job of trying to pick up what we’re doing. We’re giving them a chance to do that. I think our kids are working really hard. They’re figuring out who I am as a coach.”
