Several Burnet soccer players named all-district

Burnet High School boys and girls soccer programs announce which of their players are named All-District 24-4A.

Lady Dawg senior Amelia Griffin, who just signed to play for the University of Texas at Dallas April 5, is the district’s Most Valuable Player for the third year in a row. Kaycie Banton is the co-Offensive MVP, while Reagan Shipley is the Defensive MVP, and Daniela Suarez is the junior varsity Coach of the Year.

First team all-district members are Adrianna Briggs, Savannah Griffin, Juliet Morales, Brook Oliva, Banton, Amelia Griffin and Shipley.

Second team all-district members are Kodi Opperman, Taylor Petty and Emily Wagner, while honorable mention went to Haylie Bartlett and Mari Sanchez.

Academic all-district went to Banton, Bartlett, Hailee Beltran, Adriana Briggs, Adriana Chavez, Jacqueline Contreas, Yessi Flores, Amelia Griffin, Savannah Griffin, Makayla Johnson, Morales, Oliva, Petty, Sanchez, Shipley, Julie Suazo and Wagner.

The Lady Dawgs (17-7-2, 11-1) repeated as district champions in 2024 before losing to Fischer Canyon Lake 1-0 in a bi-district match March 25.

The Bulldogs also had several members of their team singled out for their play during a historical season. Burnet won a bi-district title in 2024 for its first playoff victory ever in beating San Antonio Davenport 3-1 March 25.

Lisandro Olvera is the district’s Utility MVP, while Rodrigo Valdez is the district’s Newcomer of the Year.

Named first team all-district are Hector Arredondo, Genesis Ceron, Lisandro Olvera and Miguel Valdez.

Named to the second team are Victor Aviles, Marco Campos, Derik Colis and Rodrigo Valdez.

Honorable mention honors went to Damian Ibanez, Cleto Leon and Dwight Lopez.

The Bulldogs on the academic all-district team include Blake Feldt, Orlando Hernandez, Eric Huerta, Roberto Montoya, Josvanny Ramirez, Isaias Zarate, Arrendo, Aviles and Lopez.
