District coaches commend Marble Falls football players for their performances

Several Marble Falls High School football players had performances that compelled District 4-4A coaches to game plan and scheme for them.
As a result they were selected to all-district teams.
Headlining the second team are quarterback Colton Minor, tight end Noah Lyon and receiver Kole Becker, who are all seniors, and junior special teams utility player Kaleb Bielfeldt.
Minor completed 93 of 167 passes for 1,120 yards and 10 touchdowns and had 83 carries for 168 yards and a score. Lyon caught 23 passes for 288 yards and a touchdown, while Becker had 51 receptions for 632 yards and 5 touchdowns and 4 carries for 27 yards.
Honorable mention went to senior linebacker Brandon Guevara, running back Joaquin Aguilar, linemen Raul Moran and Tyler Leverett, linebackers Brody Graham and Doak Timmerman, and defensive back Gregory Lemon, who are all juniors.
Aguilar had 103 rushes for 589 yards and 8 touchdowns.
Graham had 58 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery, Timmerman had 27 tackles and 2 sacks, and Lemon had 103 tackles.
Head coach Keri Timmerman pointed out the Mustangs got better throughout the season and that these players stepped on the field determined to bring their best each week.
“I thought we’d continue to improve, and I was happy to see the kids get recognized,” he said.
Going into the season, many pegged District 4-4A Division I among the best in the state. Stephenville was pre-season ranked No. 1 and Brownwood was in the top 10.
As it played out, Stephenville won the district crown and was eliminated in the state quarterfinals, while Lampasas lost in the regional semifinals and Brownwood lost in the area round. All three lost to the same postseason opponent, Amarillo West Plains, which lost to Celina in the state semifinals.
The other District 4-4A member, Burnet, lost in the bi-district round to Andrews.
The depth, talent and coaching in District 4-4A illustrated the difficulty of being selected to all-district teams, Timmerman said.
“It’s hard to argue we didn’t get enough,” he said. “We’re in a district with a lot of talent. I don’t think we can argue it wasn’t talented and deep.”
A few days after the season ended, the program went into its offseason plan that includes a weight and conditioning program.
