After winning the Division II, District 4 of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools, several Faith Academy of Marble Falls football players were singled out for all-district selections.

Head coach Jay Silvers made the announcement.

Junior Andrew Houy was named the district’s Most Valuable Player

“He’s a workhorse,” the coach said. “He’ll do anything to make the team better. He’s a great leader by example. He’s always asking what can we do to make it better and how to make us successful. He does all the grunt work and works hard. At every practice and every game, he’s leading the charge and runs the offense. He’s done a great job. He definitely takes the bull by the horns. I’m excited to have him for another year.”

First team all-district offensive members are senior center Karter Van Gundy, freshman running back Landon Silvers and Houy.

Landon has been around his dad “since I started coaching.”

“He sees things,” Jay Silvers said. “He has a work ethic he patterns after Drew. He runs the ball well, he has great hands. He looks for ways to get around people. He’s grown from the first game to the last. He wasn’t shying away from contact.”

Van Gundy has made the first team multiple times throughout the years. This season wasn’t any different.

“He’s all football,” Silvers said. “He sweats and bleeds football. He goes 100 mph. He has an engine that doesn’t quit. He does a great job. (Center) is probably one of the most overlooked by people. He makes very few mistakes.”

Defensive members are Van Gundy, Houy and sophomore defensive back Price Rosamond.

“(Rosamond) has a high football IQ,” Silvers said. “He gets himself into position to make a play on the ball.”

Second team offensive selections are junior receiver Adam Merlick and sophomore tight end Wade Dillard.

“(Merlick) has great hands and is a good blocker,” the coach said. “I moved him back to the backfield, and he executed. I can’t think of a time he made a mistake. He led the way for both Landon and Drew.”

Silvers pointed out that Dillard “has really grown.”

“He’s athletic in every aspect,” he said. “We found a spot for him. He’s such a big target.”

Defensive selections are Landon Silvers, Merlick and senior linebacker Joey Riccio.

“(Riccio) is a hard worker,” the coach said. “He is a guy you can put anywhere on your defense.”

Silvers was named coach of the year.
