The Faith Academy of Marble Falls football team welcomes Oglesby at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, to Britton Field.
The Tigers (3-2 ) were the runners-up in the 2023 Class 1A Division 2 state championship of the University Interscholastic League. That team featured seven seniors who graduated earlier this year.
“They’re one of the big programs in the UIL,” Flames head coach Jay Silvers said. “They have some size and they have speed. They’ll be a challenge.”
Oglesby is led by a pair of seniors. Kyle Fossett has 88 rushes for 850 yards and 18 touchdowns, has eight receptions for 184 yards and three scores, and has completed 15 of 23 passes for 316 yards, four touchdowns and an interception. When adding in his kick and punt return yards, he has a total of 1,144 yards to average 229 yards per contest.
Alex Castillo has completed 16 of 32 passes for 306 yards, four scores and two interceptions and has caught five passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns.
Sophomore Aiden Oxford has 12 carries for 93 yards, and junior Jack Hendricks has 13 catches for 226 yards and two scores.
Defensively, Hendricks leads the Tigers with 54 tackles, averaging 11 per game, followed by freshman Holdyn Goff with 31, Castillo with 30, and Jakson Tippitt with 29.
The Flames (2-4) will counter with senior Carter Fromberg, junior Andrew Houy and freshman Landon Silvers, who form a three-headed offensive machine.
“We have to buckle up our chin straps and get ready,” Silvers said.
