The Faith Academy of Marble Falls football team will welcome Bulverde Gloria Deo at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, to Britton Field.

The contest is part of the academy’s homecoming festivities.

“They’re a solid team,” Flames head coach Jay Silvers said. “We’re going to have to be on our toes and know who we’re blocking.”

The Lions (2-1) lost to Fredericksburg Heritage 44-29 last week after beating San Antonio St. Mary’s Hall 60-22 and Austin Royals 54-52 in the season opener.

Gloria Deo averages 215 rushing yards and 145 passing yards per game.

The Lions are led by senior Nolan Chandler, who has 45 rushes for 362 yards and five scores, completed 9 of 14 passes for 83 yards and three touchdowns, and has six receptions for 61 yards and three scores.

“He’s a quick back,” Silvers said. “He’s a solid athlete. We have to make sure we control him. If we control him, we control the offense.”

Other Gloria Deo offensive contributors include senior Caleb Ross, who has completed 10 of 17 passes for 195 yards, three touchdowns and one interception, senior Caleb McNamara, who has 15 carries for 188 yards and three scores, and senior Evan Spondike, who has seven catches for 181 yards and three touchdowns.

Chandler, McNamara and Spondike lead the Lions defense averaging at least eight tackles per contest.

The Flames will counter with Carteer Fromberg, Andrew Houy, Landon Silvers and Wade Dillard.

“Blocking, we should be OK,” Silvers said. “Passing down field will help us with our running game.”
