The Marble Falls High School team tennis team began District 25-4A play Aug. 22 with a resounding win against Cameron Yoe 14-5.
The Mustangs and Lady Mustangs swept boys and girls doubles and won boys and girls singles matches at lines 1, 3, 5 and 6.
Head coach Samuel Whitley said the scores aren’t indicative of how good Yoe is.
“The team we played is definitely in the top three,” he said. “I thought our conditioning was great.”
The hard courts at the Charlie and Nancy Herrington Tennis Center can get hotter as they absorb the summer sun. Whitley said Marble Falls officials allowed players to take a little longer to rest between points, games and matches.
“No one on our team had to take a break,” the coach said. “I thought our conditioning was extremely important. They had two people who retired. (Aug. 22) was probably the hottest day we’ve had all summer.”
Marble Falls welcomes Salado for another district matchup at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29.
