Burnet volleyball begins 2024 with a win
The Burnet High School volleyball team defeated Blanco 27-25, 26-28, 25-18, 21-25, 15-12 Aug. 13 to begin the 2024 season.
Head coach Crystal Shipley noted the Lady Dawgs (1-0) “started a little shaky, still getting used to playing with each other.”
“They are a scrappy, defensive team and they get after it,” she said. “They were able to seal the first win of the season in a long, five-set battle. I am so proud of the resiliency this team is already showing.”
The freshmen also were victorious, winning 25-14, 25-22.
“This group is full of talent and we are excited to see what they do in their high school careers,” Shipley said.
The junior varsity lost 22-25, 25-21 and 24-26.
“It’s encouraging to see how far this group has come since middle school,” the coach said. “They are getting better every time they get on the court, and we expect another amazing season from this crew.”
Burnet will play in the TEXFEST Tournament in Wimberley Friday and Saturday, Aug. 16-17, and at Copperas Cove Tuesday, Aug. 20.
