Marble Falls football hosts Jim Turner offensive line camp

The Marble Falls Independent School District football program is hosting Jim Turner’s Offensive Line Camp from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Mustang Stadium on the high school campus.
Turner has more than 30 years of experience in the industry and has coached linemen on every level of the sport. He has worked for Texas A&M University as the Aggies offensive line coach under Mike Sherman, Kevin Sumlin and Jimbo Fisher and in the NFL and the USFL.
The camp, designed for fifth-12th graders, costs $100 and players can walk up and register before it begins.
Linemen do not have to be Marble Falls Independent School District students to participate.
“Coach Turner said he’d love to host one in the Hill Country,” Mustangs head coach Keri Timmerman said. “It’s open to anybody in the state who wants to come. We hope to get some players from Lakeway and Lake Travis.”
Turner is giving the basics on the position including the insider info on how to run block and pass protect and all the little pieces that come with a position that many may take for granted.
Great offensive linemen have tremendous footwork, hand placement and are mobile and quick enough to be able to move a defender where they want them to go. Timmerman said Turner will give his expertise and and feedback to ensure offensive linemen have a step up as they use the summer to work on all things associated with the position, so they can perform at their best in the fall.
“He’s a technical kind of wizard,” Timmerman said of Turner. “What he’s teaching will fit 95 percent of all offenses. It’ll fit some special things for linemen.”
Timmerman said at least 10 Mustangs are expected to participate.
“For our kids, it’ll give them a chance to work backward,” he said.
This is the latest camp designed for specific football positions hosted by the Marble Falls program.
