Marble Falls youth football teams continue winning
The Marble Falls Youth Football and Cheer teams picked up wins against Burnet Oct. 7.
The Marble Falls freshman purple team (Kindergarten-second grade) won 45-0, while the Marble Falls junior varsity purple (third- and fourth-graders) won 40-0. The Marble Falls fifth-graders won 20-0, and the Marble Falls sixth-graders lost 38-20.
“That was a tough one for the sixth-graders,” association president ick Wood said. “It was a fun weekend, a rivalry weekend. It really felt like a rivalry. I feel more nervous because of the rivalry games. There’s a lot more hitting. They know each other, they play together. You know the kids, you grow up around them. It makes for a super fun day. We’re having fun. Burnet was very hospitable.”
Two Marble Falls gold teams also played. The freshman gold won in Blanco 40-6 and the junior varsity gold lost to Canyon Lake 25-21 on a last second touchdown.
“Four of our six teams got the ‘w’,” Wood said.
He noted most Marble Falls youth teams have two games left before the start of the playoffs Oct. 28, adding “it’s too close to call” which Marble Falls squads will qualify.
“At least one team from the freshman, JV and varsity divisions should make it barring upsets,” the president said.
The Marble Falls teams face Lampasas at Lago Vista Saturday, Oct. 14.
