Standout Burnet baseball players named to all-district lists
The Burnet High School baseball team announced which of its players made the District 24-4A all-district teams.
Trey Morrow was named the Newcomer of the Year.
“We moved him up, and he played in three or four district games,” head coach Russell Houston said. “He’s a hard kid to get out. He hit the ball hard. (Other head coaches) were impressed by him.”
First team all-district members include pitcher Braden Ellett-Clark, outfielder Will Johnson and catcher Tanner O’Hair.
“These are kids who performed well on both sides (offense and defense),” Houston said. “You look at the entire district, you look at the bar and see where the kids are. And who the kids struggled against. Who gave your kids the most amount of struggles?”
Second team all-district honors went to infielder Gilbert Valdez.
Named all-district honorable mention are Jesse Bachmayer, Noah Crawford, Kade Shaw,
“You always want more and more for your kiddos,” Houston said. “It was a quality selection of kids from our district. I thought it was a good overall representation of our district. I thought it was fair and pretty good.”
Academic all-district honors went to Isaac Teague, Crawford, Ellett-Clark, Morrow, O’Hair, Shaw and Valdez.
Kassner and O’Hair were named second team academic all-state by the Texas High Coaches Association, and Teague was listed honorable mention by the association.
