Burnet, Marble Falls athletes dominate soccer all-district teams
The Burnet and Marble Falls high school boys and girls soccer teams featured several players on the all-District 25-4A teams.
The Mustangs, who won the district title, had 13 athletes, while the Bulldogs, who finished fourth in district play, had 10 players. Twenty Lady Dawgs, who helped the program win the district crown, made the academic all-district team.
Marble Falls’ Garrett Goggans was named the district’s Most Valuable Player, while teammate Jesus Cruz is the Midfielder Most Valuable Player.
Joining the two on the all-district first team are Marco Almazan, Fernando Arreguin, Juan Gomez, Diego Mata and Seth Parker.
The Mustangs’ second team members are Charlie Brantley, Esteban Dominguez and Max Najera.
Honorable mention honors went to Kash Bussaraporn, Coda Langley and Presiliano Suarez.
Texas Association of Soccer Coaches Organization released its all-state list and included Arreguin, Goggans and Parker on the second team and Almazan was honorable mention.
Burnet’s Victor Aviles is the district Utility Most Valuable Player, while teammate Hector Arrendo is the Newcomer of the Year, and Genesis Ceron. also a Bulldog, is the Freshman of the Year.
The three and Jahir Benitez also were named to the all-district first team.
Burnet’s second team all-district selections are Eric Hernandez, Anthony Perez and Miguel Valdez.
Burnet’s honorable mention all-district players are Bruno Hernandez, Lisandro Olvera and Adrian Rojas.
Burnet’s Amelia Griffin is the girls district MVP, while teammates Brook Oliva is the district’s Offensive MVP, Caroline Valencia is the district Midfielder MVP, and Juliet Morales is the district Goal Keeper MVP.
Dani Suarez is the Junior Varsity Coach of the Year.
Named first team all-district are Kaycie Banton, Haylie Bartlett, Adriana Briggs, Taylor Petty, Reagan Shipley, Griffin, Morales and Oliva.
The second team all-district features Lainey Rye, Julie Suazo, Emily Wagner and Valencia.
Mekayla Johnson was named all-district honorable mention.
Academic all-district members playing for Burnet are Adriana Briggs, Kylie Brobst, Ariana Chevez, Samantha Gaylord, Laney Huffman, Kdee McCurry, Kodi Opperman, Denise Penaloza, Mari Sanchez, Arrendon, Aviles, Bartlett, Barton, Benitez, Griffin, Morales, Petty, Oliva, Rye, Shipley, Suazo, Valencia and Wagner.
Benitez, Gaylord, McCurry, Penaloza and Rye also were named academic all-state by the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches Organization.
The Marble Falls Lady Mustangs, who finished as the district runners-up, also had their share of all-district honors.
Beth Busby was voted the district’s Newcomer of the Year.
David Griffin was named Junior Varsity Coach of the Year.
First team all-district members are Miley Bolanos, Beth Busby, Allison Harris, Sachi Marcum and Clarissa Mata.
Second team all-district honors went to Haley France, Briseah Rivera and Angelee Shaw.
Honorable mention all-district went to Cali Brydon, Ashley Ferreira and Dulce Macias.
Named academic all-district were Giselle Hernandez, Ava McNamara, Briseah Rivera, Avrie Wallace, Irie Wallace, Bolanos, Brydon, Busby, Ferreira, France, Harris, Macias, Marcum, Mata and Shaw,
Academic all-state honors went to Bolanos, Busby, Harris, Mata and Shaw.
