The Lady Dawgs (2-0 in District 24-4A) are preparing for a road trip to Lampasas (2-0) Friday, March 24. The junior varsity plays at 5 p.m. and the varsity competes at 7 p.m.
Burnet had only three hits against the Lady Vikings with two coming from Maddie Moise. One was a home run.
Sophomore pitcher Presely Crawford struck out all six batters she faced in her two innings of work. Junior pitcher Kyleigh Mott struck out two of the three batters she faced.
Lampasas and Burnet will play each other for the first time this season. Both are expected to vie for the district crown, and the winner will remain unbeaten going into the final game of the first round of district play Tuesday, March 28.
“It’s a rivalry game,” Burnet head coach Hailey Wooten said of Lampasas. “There are a lot of people who know each other. I know a lot of them play together.”
The Lady Badgers have a new pitcher, freshman Brooklyn Farmer.
“As a staff, we talk about about the next game is our big game,” Wooten said. “Our kids don’t get caught up in who’s playing. They go out and play the game and take care of business. They worry about themselves and our team.”
