Families living in south Burnet County made their way to First Baptist Church of Marble Falls June 11 to get their children fitted for another season of Marble Falls Youth Football and Cheer. Burnet’s Vance makes most of all-star game appearance

Recent Burnet High School graduate Ralston Vance made his community proud June 12 by his play at the Austin Area Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Game. Vance, who was a second baseman for the North team, handled a line ball that started a double play to end the contest and drew a walk and struckout in his two at-bats. Marble Falls strength and conditioning draws a good number of athletes on first day

The Marble Falls Independent School District athletics department began its summer strength-and-program June 13, and coaches were content with the number of athletes who showed up for the voluntary sessions. Fifty-five high school boys and 40 seventh- and eighth-graders worked out. The Lady Mustangs had about 38 representing grades 7-12. In a district that produced the state champion, four Marble Falls High School baseball players were recognized for their seasons by District 25-5A coaches. Burnet coaches see big increase in attendance for voluntary workouts

The number of Bulldogs attending voluntary strength-and-conditioning sessions thrills the Burnet High School coaching staff. That’s according to defensive coordinator Ben Speer. Burnet is averaging triple-digit attendance by athletes in grades 7-12, about 50 percent increase from summer 2021. The seven-week summer strength-and-conditioning sessions began June 6. “We can’t be disappointed with that,” Speer said. “Last summer we had 60 guys, and we thought that was good.” Several factors have contribute to the increase of attendees, he said. The Llano varsity 7-on-7 football team posted a 1-2 record at the Taylor State Qualifying Tournament June 11, and head coach Matt Green noticed some common traits from the three qualifying tournaments. Llano participated at the Burnet State Qualifying Tournament May 28 and the Jourdanton State Qualifying Tournament June 4.
