The Burnet High School volleyball team earned another playoff win, beating Taylor 25-18, 25-21, 25-21 Nov. 3.
“It was a hard fought win, and they did it in three sets,” head coach Crystal Shipley said. “Thank you to everyone who filled the stands. We had an incredible support system, and I know the girls really appreciate it.”
Junior outside hitter MaeSyn Gay led the way with 12 kills, giving her 335 this season, which is the most by any Lady Dawg in program history, though she’s not done yet, coaches say.
Junior middle blocker Zaria Solis was named the player of the match thanks to her 11 kills, 1 assist, 5 blocks and 2 digs.
Coaches noted Solis “was a beast at the net. Offensively and defensively, she made big plays and is such a team player.”
Next up is Salado in the regional quarterfinals at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Copperas Cove High School, 400 S. 25th St. The winner advances to the Class 4A Region III tournament.
