Long-time athletics director and coach Russell Roberts is donning the red and black of the Smoking For Jesus Ministry School Eagles. Roberts, who is most familiar to Highland Lakes sports fans as the football and boys track and field coach at Faith Academy, decided to become part of Eagles head coach Charles Frazier Sr.’s staff in early April. Saying the Faith Academy of Marble Falls athletics department experienced a banner year in 2021-22 doesn’t begin to describe the success. The Smoking for Jesus Minstry School’s athletics department has changed high school leagues. The private school moved to the Texas Association of Independent Athletic Organizations, which happened after the basketball season ended. The department was previously a member of the Texas Christian Athletic League where the Eagles had tremendous success. The football team reached the league’s six-man state championship game in 2019, 2020 and 2021 and won back-to-back titles in 2020 and 2021.
