Another undefeated district championship yields awards

Faith Academy of Marble Falls boys basketball players Brock Davis and Case Coleman were named to the small private school all-state team by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.

The honors are the latest for the duo who led the Flames to another undefeated district season and the second round of the playoffs.

“(Their coaches) nominate them, and they get voted on by a separate committee,” head coach Zakk Revelle said. “I nominated those two. I knew they’d all get TAPPS all-state. All the other accolades play a part.”

Junior center Davis, in his first year as a Flame, was named TAPPS first team all-state, while senior guard Coleman, a four-year letterman, was named to the second team. Davis averaged 22 point and 10 rebounds in the playoffs, while Coleman averaged 10 points and four assists.

“Case has been a cornerstone for our program. Case has a district record of 25-3 with those three losses coming as a freshman,” Revelle said. “Brock has been great.”

That followed Davis being named the District 4-2A most valuable player where Coleman finished as the runner-up. Joining Davis on the all-district first team include guard Gabe Lopez and forward Will Lewis.

The second team had guards Diego Chavira and Dylan Offutt and forward Justin Mottle.

Revelle noted that when Davis, Lewis, Chavira and Lopez joined the team, that allowed Coleman to play the sport his way where he could set up his teammates for their shots.

“Case was always a pass-first guy,” the coach said. “He was going to be our best scorer. But Brock, Will, Diego and Gabe all moved in at the same time.”

Revelle said the first team all-district list included 12 names. Since the Flames won the district, he represented it at the all-state meeting. He put names and stats on the board before coaches voted. When his players and their families heard the results of who was voted all-state, they were happy, Revelle said.

“The district champs usually have the best stats,” he said. “We were the only team in our district to win a playoff game. Case was excited, his parents were excited.”

While the awards are well-deserving, Revelle said, Coleman and Davis noted they aren’t possible without their teammates, who they remain thankful for and the memories from another season for the record books.

“They deserve all the credit in the world,” the coach said.
