Flames earn second win in shortened game
The Faith Academy of Marble Falls baseball team earned another run-rule win March 7.
The Flames (2-0) beat New Braunfels Christian Academy 13-3 in five innings.
After NBCA took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, Faith exploded for seven runs in the second, three in the fourth, and three in the fifth. Senior Case Coleman had 3 RBIs off 2 hits. Seth Jones got the Faith bats going by hitting a double in left field that fired up his teammates.
Sophomore pitcher Kade Shaw (2-0) earned the win by striking out six batters and gave up only one earned run in 3.1 innings pitched. He threw 79 pitches.
“He did a really good job again,” head coach Zakk Revelle said. “He pitches, he hits and scores runs.”
The best part for Revelle is that though some of the players left early to compete in the Florence track and field meet, the Flames’ intensity never dropped. That’s why they were able to win in a shortened contest.
“Having athletes leave to compete in another sport is just another day at Faith Academy,” the coach said. “We did a good job of showing resolve and not letting mistakes define us. They didn’t let things get to them, which is good, really good. It was a total team effort.”
The Flames travel to face Bulverde Bracken at 6 p.m. Friday, March 11, at Jumbo Evans Sports Park, 101 Jumbo Evans Blvd. in Spring Branch.
